For the last couple of days my wife and I have been watching and listening to what’s happening in Haiti.
Yesterday I sprained two of my fingers and have completely lost mobility in them. I’ve been pitying myself, but I can’t imagine what it’s like compared to anyone in Haiti dealing with the suffering they are experiencing.
I would like to do what I can to help, and thanks to Danielle’s and Kelly’s inspiration, I will be offering a special deal on my ebook.
For the next 5 days, anyone that purchases my ebook, Reclaim Your Dreams 100% of the money will go to a Haiti relief fund.
If you’ve been thinking about buying my ebook, please consider purchasing it now. It will not only help you, but help someone else at the same time.
My prayers and thoughts are with everyone in Haiti right now. Thank you for your help.

Wow that’s a really nice thing to do. I think we all need to donate to Haiti. They think upto 140,000 may be dead. Imagine if that happened in America or the UK. Donate everyone!
Great to see your adding your own contribution to Haiti Relief too, but just a thought on the way in which your offer to do that.
I read this recently in an interview with Robert Cialdini (link below):
“Well, we put signs in hotel room bathrooms—this isn’t published yet—that said, “[Re-use your bath towels] for the environment.” That was the control group. The other sign said, “If you [re-use your towels], we’ll donate a percentage of the savings that we get at the end of the year to an environmental cause.” That didn’t produce any increase in towel reuse.
But if we said, “We’ve already donated to an environmental cause in the name of our guests,” now we get reciprocity. That produced, I think, a 28 percent increase over either of the other strategies. You can apply this to social cause marketing: if you’re going to give a donation anyway, you should give it first.”

It’s a slight difference but if it makes as much difference as he suggests then it could be worth taking on :)
That’s really nice that you’ve decided to do this. We need more people to step up to the plate and show everyone else how it’s done. My wife and I have both felt like we aren’t doing enough. We’ve been looking for other things we can continue to donate our time to. I’ll be adding the blog Haiti challenge to both our blogs.
Yes, I agree with Richard, this is very kind of you! Times like these it is always important that we give what we can. Compassion can set us free from our egos.
Well put, Robbie Mackay. I couldn’t agree more with the quote you site from Robert Cialdini. Thank you for your comment.
That’s really sweet (and smart!) of you, Jonathan. I’d also add that NPR has a great list of really easy ways to donate and help the people of Haiti:
From NPR: Haiti: Some Ways To Help http://tinyurl.com/y94a932 I texted “Haiti” to 90999 for an automatic donation to the Red Cross.
Wow. Too bad I just discovered your post (it was for 5 days only?). I’m very interested in buying your ebook, will you still donate to Haiti relief?
I just bought your ebook, and I have downloaded it. It looks awesome, and I can’t wait to start reading it.
Thanks.
As a Hatian American I find it amazing how much response has been given to help my people. But I still cannot stress enough how important it is for people to be more aware and educated as to who are responsible for handling these donations to ensure they go to the people who need it most. Because I can tell you first-hand that since the quake hit-the distribution of aid and supplies do NOT amount to what they should. Accounts so far are estimating around 300 million dollars has been raised for Haiti-a record high in all of history for any disaster relief fund. And yet people are still going without food, water and medical supplies? People are amputating their own legs and pulling through the rubble with their bare hands to look for loved ones? The U.S military can be found on every street corner from Port au Prince to La ti Bonite but my own cousin bled to death in the middle of the fuckin street because there wasn’t enough doctors to go around? There is something seriously wrong with what is going on and so when people ask me “is there anything I can do for you?’ I say, ‘yes, learn about my country, our political history with the U.S and France and be more aware of what is going on down there. Don’t take what the mainstream media are saying as fact.’ But most importantly, I urge everyone to be more aware of where your donations are going. And Kudos to those in the blogging world who have been so supportive. Its the only place I don’t feel so alone since shutting myself out from the outside world
