Peace is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh — This book transformed the way I view peace, not just trying to create peaceful surroundings, but to be peaceful. Thich is someone I greatly admire and look up to. Don’t be deceived by his gentle approach, his words pack a punch.
Hardcore Zen by Brad Warner — Punk rock, monster movies and the truth about reality. Hard to not pick up a book with a subtitle like that. Not only is Brad an excellent writer, he spares the bullshit and tells it to you straight.
How to Become a Famous Writer Before You’re Dead by Ariel Gore — If I can recommend one book to any prospective writer, it’s this one. She’ll reveal to you how to unleash your inner superhero and conducts an imaginary interview with Haruki Murakami.
