Some Things I’ve Done
Since deciding to live deliberately and take designing my life into my own hands, here are some of the things I’ve done:
- Wrote a book; my best-selling ebook, Reclaim Your Dreams. In writing it, I successfully created a cohesive framework for my philosophy in life.
- Became vegetarian. Going on nine years now and have not faltered once.
- Quit smoking. I was a smoker for five years. Which is kind of ironic, because the whole time I smoked, I was vegetarian. Quitting smoking was one of the best choices I’ve ever made, and also one of the hardest habits to kick.
- Started training in Jeet Kune Do. Martial arts is something I’ve wanted to do since watching The Karate Kid when I was a young boy. In February of 2009, I finally got the guts and signed up for my first JKD class, the fighting system developed by the late Bruce Lee. I’ve been training three days a week since.
- Started eating High Raw. I first tried to eat 100% raw, but it was too drastic of a change to make. I’m currently eating a high raw diet, with about 70% or more of the food I eat being completely raw vegan.
- Became a Life Coach. Coaching is one of the most rewarding experiences in the world. To be able to work with people one on one and help them create change is an honor and a blessing.
- Made bodyweight training a habit. I stopped going to the gym and started doing 100% bodyweight training. (You can build an Olympic body through bodyweight exercise alone, and have much more functional strength.) I owe it to martial arts for getting into bodyweight exercise. I’m currently working on my Front Lever and the Planche Pushup.
- Quit my job and became self-employed. This was my biggest goal for 2008-2009. All of my energy and intention was put into liberating myself from the traditional 9 to 5 work template, and get paid to be me. I’m proud to say that at the age of 23, I became completely self-employed. Go here to learn how I did it.
- Started composting. No produce scraps in my house go to a landfill. They’re all put back into the earth. It’s kind of difficult, since we live in an apartment that doesn’t have much yard space, but we make it work.
- Completed the Master Cleanse. So far, I’ve completed four Master Cleanse 10 day fasts. Each of them has been a unique and rewarding experience. I take my body being a temple seriously, and regular cleansing is a big part of that.
- Kicked caffeine. My most recent accomplishment has been eliminating the addiction to caffeine from my diet. I feel it’s much easier for me to relax now. The energy in my body and mind feels much more flowing, and not as jittery.
- Wrote a free ebook. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and this year I finally did. I released a free ebook called The Zero Hour Workweek — How I Liberated Myself From the 9 to 5 by Getting Paid to Be Me. It contains 60 pages that detail my journey to quitting my day job and creating a full time income online.
